How to Scan Your Computer for Guarda Wallet Files

Guarda is a multi-currency wallet that supports Bitcoin, Ethereum and over 50 other cryptocurrencies. While it’s primarily known as a mobile application, Guarda is also available as a desktop application and as a browser extension for Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Opera, Edge and Brave.

If you used Guarda on your desktop or browser several years ago to store your cryptos, you may no longer remember where the wallet files are located on your computer. If you want to access your funds, you’ll need to track down these files.

The manual way

The process of finding Guarda wallet files manually depends on which version of the application you used.

If you used the mobile application, you will need to jailbreak your phone to find the wallet file. However, jailbreaking is a complex process that varies depending on your phone’s model and operating system. Moreover, it voids your warranty and poses security risks. As such, it’s outside the scope of this article.

If you used the desktop or browser application, you should search your computer for a folder with one of the following names:

  • Guarda
  • hpglfhgfnhbgpjdenjgmdgoeiappafln
  • https_guarda.com_0.indexeddb.leveldb
  • https_guarda.co_0.indexeddb.leveldb

If you find such a folder, search it for .log and .ldb files. These files should contain your wallet data, although further expertise will be required to extract the information and possibly decrypt it.

Alternatively, you can search your computer for a file whose name ends with -guarda-backup.txt. This contains your wallet data, although you will need your password to decrypt it.

Lastly, you can also try to locate the seed phrase that was given to you when creating your wallet. A seed phrase is a series of words (typically 12, 18 or 24) that acts as a backup password to recover your wallet and access your funds. It looks like this: relax host buddy slab ramp gentle that gasp alarm cushion hint sauce. If you find it, you can then import it into Guarda or another wallet and gain back access to your funds.

The automatic way

As you can see, the manual method leaves much to be desired. It’s tedious and time-consuming, forcing you to scour your entire computer for obscure folders and files. Worse yet, if you renamed your wallet files or moved them somewhere else, the manual approach will fail entirely.

This is where Treasure Hunter comes in. Instead of spending hours hunting through folders and files, you can scan your computer and any storage devices you may have used in the past – HDDs, SSDs, USB keys, SD cards, CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs – and Treasure Hunter will tell you if it has found any Guarda wallet files or seed phrases. It’s designed to detect them even if attempts have been made to hide them, so you don’t have to remember exactly where you stored them. All you have to do is press a few buttons while the software does the heavy lifting!

Treasure Hunter works on Mac, Windows and Linux. You can scan your storage devices for free.
